Jose Mourinho has been appointed Tottenham manager after the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday 19 November after a series of poor results
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager, Mourinho takes on his new role following his announcement on Wednesday 20 November morning after signing a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season
Mourinho, who has been out since leaving Manchester United in November 2018, has been tasked to revive Spurs after poor performance in the league since the season started.
Quoted on BBC, Mourinho said, “I am thrilled to be joining a Club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters. The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me,”
Meanwhile, Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy said, they believe in the choice they made, with Mourinho been one of the most successful managers in recent times.
“In Jose, we have one of the most successful managers in football. He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”
Spurs become Mourinho’s third club in England, following stints at London rivals Chelsea (twice) and the most recent one at Man United.
