A new group of football administrators are set to get a fresh mandate starting Saturday 23 November with the 2019 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Elections getting underway in 18 counties nationally.
All the other counties had officials earn slots unopposed and not even the weight of the court cases seeking to stop the elections would move the Electoral Board, which is marshaled by Prof. Edwin Wamukoya.
Go on as planned
On Thursday 21 November, as the board prepared for the polls, Wamukoya noted that there has been no order served to effect the halting of the elections and he assured all stakeholders of a free and fair process.
“Elections will go on as planned. As a Board, we have not been served with any letter that could make us postpone or cancel it,” said Prof. Wamukoya.
As at 11am EAT on Saturday 23 November, Abdul Amin Kaka had been confirmed the winner of the Laikipia County Chairman’s position, garnering five of the nine votes. He trounced Kibe Ndungu, who managed four votes.
Former Wazito FC chair Luthers Mokua had also claimed the Nyamira County Chairman’s seat.
After the County Elections, the board will conduct the National Elections before the Sub-County Elections take place.
