Gor Mahia head coach Steven Polack is the October 2019 Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month, as feted at the team’s training base, Camp Toyoyo, Nairobi on Thursday 28 November.
The coach, who joined Gor Mahia at the start of the season, ha had a good run with the team, domestically, and under him the team has extended its dominance in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), just as was the case with his predecessor.
Three straight wins
In the month of October, for which he earned recognition as the best, the coach led the team to three straight wins in the matches played in that period, and his team bagged clean sheets in all the matches too.
“I’m humbled to receive a personal award for the team’s performance in October. I have to thank them for putting in hard work because I would not have got it. It is encouraging during such tough times to be awarded,” he said as he received the award.
A 2-0 win over Nzoia Sugar FC at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, set Gor Mahia rolling for the month before beating Zoo FC 1-0 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru and replicating the same against Kariobangi Sharks at the same venue.
Polack is the second coach to bag the award this season. The September gong was won by Western Stima coach Salim Babu, who had guided the team to two wins and a draw.
