Ulinzi Stars custodian Timothy Odhiambo is the Kenyan Premier League's (KPL) best player for the month of October- this is according to the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) in cooperation with LG- an award ceremony held at Ulinzi Stars' training base in Nakuru on Friday 29th.
Odhiambo- key for the soldiers as the last line of defense, has put up a stellar show since the season began- conceding just five goals after ten rounds of the KPL.
October was a fine month for the former SoNy Sugar FC man as he kept clean sheets three times in the matches Ulinzi were active, therefore having a clean month of October. The Benjamin Nyangweso led side failed to concede from matches pitting them against Tusker FC ( 1-0 win) Kenya Commercial Bank (0-0) and Western Stima (0-0).
Odhiambo's closest competitors in the goalkeeping department were Jairus Adira who also had a fantastic month- letting in just one goal in the period and keeping three clean sheets against Wazito, Zoo and Kisumu All Stars. Gor Mahia's David Mapigano played three matches in the month and kept three clean sheets.
From the outfield players- Odhiambo had to ward off competition from Kevin Kimani of Mathare United who scored two goals and assisted one in October. Kimani has similar numbers to Collins Wakhungu of Nzoia Sugar FC and John Mark Makwatta of AFC Leopards.
Kisumu All Stars' Gerrishom Arabe, Wazito's Johnstone Omurwa and Kakamega Homeboyz's David Okoth managed two goals each in the month.
The award sees Timothy bag a 49 inch LG television courtesy of the award sponsors LG. He also takes home a Ksh 100, 000 with the rest of the Ulinzi Stars team also sharing the same amount.
