Kenya, represented by Serani Boys High School did not start their Copa Coca Cola defence on a positive note on Monday 2 December, falling 1-3 at the hands of Zimbabwe in a match played at Mpesa Foundation Thika.
The match started at a high tempo on the rain soaked pitch with Kenya missing two open chances, both by Nassor Mwinyi, who was thwarted by the Zimbabwe goalie. In the 28th minute a Zimbabwe attack caught Kenya napping with Luke Musikiri picking out the Kenya keeper with a volley to hand Zimbabwe the lead.
Kenya responded in the 35th minute with a goal from Mark Odhiambo.
At the start of the second half, Kenya made a double substitution introducing Joel Elisha in place of Kamau Ali and Shabaan Juma in place of Nassor but right after the changes, Zimbabwe’s hitman, Luke Musikiri struck the second in the 51st Minute.
Luke Musikiri sealed Kenya’s fate by completing his hat trick in the 58th minute.
The result saw Zimbabwe go top of Group A with three points and left Kenya bottom ahead of the Mozambique game later on Monday in a must win clash.
