Porous defence a concern for Muyoti

If Kakamega Homeboyz are to go all the way this season and achieve an unprecedented league crown then they have to work on their leaky defence according to head coach Nicholas Muyoti.

Homeboyz currently sit in 3rd place on the KPL standings with 20 points, five adrift of top spot and have conceded 15 goals from their opening 11 games, a tally which is the joint highest of all the teams in the top 12 on the log.

Their failings in defence have been masked by their potency going forward where they have managed 20 goals to sit joint top in that regard and Muyoti wants his side to maintain this as they attempt to tighten up at the back.

Threat

“We are good going forward where we have been a threat to teams. It is at the back where we need to work on if we are to achieve anything this season.

“If we rectify on our mistakes at the back and maintain our hunger for goals upfront then we can go even higher up the table,” he said.

Homeboyz defeated Mathare United 3-1 away last time out to offer the perfect response to falling 3-0 at the hands of Gor Mahia prior and now train their guns towards Muyoti’s former team Nzoia Sugar who they face next on Saturday in their second successive away game.
