Nzoia Sugar FC’ injury list grew this week after left-back Thomas Wainaina experienced a groin strain in training a session ahead of their Saturday contest against Kakamega Homeboyz FC.
Confirming this to Soka was the team doctor Amir Magwara who termed it a mild concern and that the defender- who played in central midfield position against AFC Leopards last weekend, could be ready before Homeboyz set sail to Sudi Stadium.
”Thomas is our latest concern but it was just a groin strain in training session,” says Amir.
Thomas, who was deployed in the midfield role by coach Collins Korea Omondi due to their huge injury list, put up a great show over Leopards- getting into the score-sheet in fact in the tie that ended in a 2-2 square.
The sugar millers have been missing players due to injuries and other family engagements and might be glad to welcome back goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi and Nigol Mohammed who were both bereaved.
Utility man Rama Mwenda’s iliac bone linear fracture has him out till January next year while James Kibande has been missing in action since sustaining a mid-foot sprain.
Others will out but might be returning soon are Edgar Nzano and Brian Wepo.
Nzoia sit in the 13th position on the KPL log and have not won any of their last five matches. From 11 matches, the sugar millers have amassed ten points.
