Bandari FC were 4-1 winners over visiting Wazito FC in a round 13 Kenyan Premier League match played at the Mbaraki Sports Club from 2 pm on Friday 6th.
The Dockers, who had not won a match in their last five outings, raced up into a 2-1 lead at half time and compounded to the visitors’ woes in the second half with two more goals.
A tight clash played in the afternoon Mombasa heat, goals were hard to come by in the opening quarter of an hour and Shaban Kenga had to wait for the 27th minute to head home the opener from a Cliff Kasuti cross.
Kasuti’s deliveries proved a unique challenge to the Wazito defense and a second goal soon followed after David Otieno guided Kasuti’s 30th-minute cross into his own net. Before half time, however, Siraj Mohammed would do Wazito a favor by firing into his own net whilst trying to dispossess Derrick Otanga in the Bandari area.
The hosts sat back for a better part of the opening stages of the second half while Wazito strived to level matters. Playing a high line, the visitors soon conceded a third after an unmarked Kenga found goalkeeper Kevin Onyango off his line. This was in the 80th minute, and four minutes later, a brilliant run by substitute Benjamin Mosha set up Yema Mwana for the fourth goal.
Wazito went down 4-1 at the Coast, a home team win that sees Bandari jump to 12th on the 18-team log.
