Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano bore a huge smile at 90 minutes during his team’s clash against Kariobangi Sharks, and rightly so – his team had just completed a comeback, with three second half goals, to win 3-1 at MISC Kasarani on Friday 6 December.
It took tha coach a change in personnel and game plan to aid his side bag three points which moved the side to just a point below Gor Mahia in the league standings. After a slow start to the match, the coach was elated at the impact he saw in the second half.
“In every game you must have a Plan A as well as plan B and C, and I saw how we played in the first half and we were not sharp thus it forced me to change the system of play and bring in substitutes and change the game
“We were playing a flat game at the start, but in the second half we picked up after seeing what the game demanded,” he noted.
Matano hailed youngster Eric Zakayo, a new entrant to the senior team from the academy, who had a good impact after coming on as a substitute and contributing to the third goal.
“It is his time now and you cannot play football when you’re old, you start playing when you’re young as well as show what you have. We promoted him to the senior team and you can see the ability and capability he has,” he added.
Tusker who have now gone undefeated in their last five matches are second with 24 points.
