Kenya began its CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup defence on the right footing, beating Tanzania 1-0 on Sunday 8 December in the two nations’ opening round fixture of the 2019 showpiece currently ongoing in Uganda.
Bandari FC’s Hassan Abdallah netted the only goal of the game in the 4th minute at the Lugogo Stadium in Kampala, striking the ball hard and low from inside the area after being teed up by Oscar Wamalwa of Ulinzi Stars.
Harambee Stars, who won the 2017 edition on home soil, now ascend to the top of Group B with three points ahead of Zanzibar and Sudan who played out a 1-1 draw also on Sunday.
