The Kenya national U17 girls’ team on Monday 9th whipped Djibouti by fourteen goals to nothing in their opening match of the CECAFA U17 championship staged in Jinja, Uganda.
Arch Bishop Njenga Girls striker Anna Arusi fired Kenya into the lead before Fasila Adiambo stretched it to 2-0 three minutes later. Viola Khalai was next up, making it three after which Lavine Anyango compounded to Djibouti’s woes with a fourth. Khalai came for her brace in the 40th minute and Fasila a minute later.
Kenya led 6-0 at the break.
Arusi too would complete her brace in the early stages of the second half and Khalai was the first to record a hat-trick when she scored in the 47th minute. Fasila would soon join the hat-trick club while Khalai struck two more goals in quick succession to reach five goals before the hour mark.
Fasila, seemingly not contended with her hat-trick, got her fourth of the game and the stage was now set for Arusi to also hit three. She did, just a minute after Fasila had gotten her 4th goal.
Dorine Achieng was left to scrape through with a late goal as Djibouti went down by 14 goals, none replied.
Kenya now shifts focus on Eritrea with whom they lock horns on Wednesday 11th in Jinja.
