Nyangweso wary of Chemelil threat as Ulinzi resume league action

Ulinzi Stars will be back in action in round 14 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) this Wednesday in Muhoroni where they will travel away to face relegation threatened Chemelil Sugar and ahead of the game, head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has talked up his side’s preparations as well as urging them to maintain caution and not be complacent against the struggling Millers.

Ulinzi had their round 13 tie against Zoo FC postponed due to the fact that they had several players called up to the Kenyan national team for the ongoing CECAFA finals and as they resume league action, Nyangweso is hoping his charges can maintain with their good run of form and claim their fifth win of the season on Wednesday.

Top game

“We are playing a team that has not won a game this season and is bottom. This is a team that will give all to beat us, so we have to be at the top of our game. Playing a team going through hardships, like Chemelil is very tough and I have insisted this on my players. We can’t afford to get carried over. We need to keep our concentration levels high for the entire 90 minutes. They all know the crucial nature of this game,” Nyangweso told Ulinzi’s official portal.

The Soldiers will be without striker Oscar Wamalwa, keeper Timothy Odhiambo and winger Samuel Mwangi (with the former two away on national team duty) for tomorrow’s game but Nyangweso is not at all fazed by this as he believes his team is well equipped with enough quality to deal with Chemelil.

“They are training well, and giving their all. We have enough quality in the team and especially in the goalkeeping department. By the time we get to the game, my fellow coaches and I will have decided on who starts. I am confident that whoever gets the chance will do the job as well as Timothy has done in the 12 games this season.

Trained well

“We have trained well so far. Save for the two players who are away on national team duty, and (Samuel) Mwangi who has a family problem to sort, everyone else is here and the morale is as it should be ahead of the game. I am satisfied,” he said.

Ulinzi currently lie in 6th place on the log with 18 points and a win tomorrow can see them move up to 3rd while a win for Chemelil will be their first of the campaign.
