The 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League top scorer Enosh Ochieng was the star of the day, grabbing a brace as Ulinzi Stars returned to winning ways with a 4-1 win over Chemelil Sugar in a Round 13 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash at the Muhoroni Stadium on Wednesday 11 December.
Enosh, a former Muhoroni Youth forward, returned to his former stomping ground with purpose, having just recovered from injury, and needed just five minutes to start the rout, as the Soldiers put the Millers to the sword.
He would go on to score the second before John Kago grabbed a third to hand Ulinzi Stars a comfortable cushion going to the break. David Simiyu pulled one back for the Millers late on but second half substitute Ezekiel Okare restored the three – goal lead almost immediately.
Heading to the game on the back of two straight draws, Ulinzi Stars were favorites and they didn’t even show any signs of missing two of their key players, Oscar Wamalwa and Timothy Odhiambo, who are away in Uganda for the CECAFA Senior Challenge.
Enosh shot them in the lead after picking Ibrahim Shambi’s flick from a long ball forward from goalkeeper Jackton Odhiambo, who was starting his first game of the season. Shambi was on hand again in the 24th minute as he bore down on goal, but was fouled in the box, by goalkeeper Bernard Onunga.
Enosh stepped forward to take the resultant penalty, and did well, to hand Ulinzi a 2-0 lead in the 26th minute and John Kago made it three after capitalizing on a poor kick from Onunga.
There was less of goal mouth action in the second half but the game burst to life again in the final 10 minutes. David Simiyu got to Richard Oti’s cross to pull one back for Chemelil in the 83rd minute, but Ezekiel Okare restored the Ulinzi cushion right after, with a fine long ranger in the 85th minute.
