Tusker FC ascended to the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) standings thanks to a 1-0 victory over Wazito FC in a round 14 fixture played on Wednesday 11 December at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Defender Eric Ambunya secured the win for Robert Matano’s charges with a close range finish in the 71st minute after being set up by George Blackberry Odhiambo.
The Brewers now move to the top of the standings with 27 points, one ahead of Kakamega Homeboyz who had assumed the position after beating Bandari FC 1-0 earlier in the day.
Tusker have now won eight games, to equal Gor Mahia and Homeboyz as the teams with the most wins this season.
For Wazito, their struggles continue as they now remain three points above the relegation zone with 11 points with today’s loss being their sixth of the campaign which in turn leaves them winless against Tusker in the four games they have faced each other.
