Round 15 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) begins today- Saturday 14th, but as per tradition, we will first address the issue of contributions from the previous round that was played in the midweek and ended on Thursday 12th.
After round 13, Kevin Kimani of Mathare United and Gor Mahia’s Kenneth Muguna had stayed firmly on top of the assists chart with 5 each.
Kisumu All Stars’ visit to Sofapaka kicked off round 14, falling 2-1 after Aswani Kepha nodded home a Titus Achesa corner kick. In the first half, the teams had tied through Elli Asieche and Wesley Kemboi’s penalties. The duo had each been brought down in the box.
Western Stima FC then mauled Zoo a day later- taking a 4-1 win at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. Youngster Benson Omalla’s hat-trick was because he positioned himself well for Villa Oromcan, Baron Oketch and Robert Achema’s passes. Zoo pulled one back after Collins Neto set up Dennis Ongeri for 3-1. Salim Hamisi would drive home a free-kick to regain Stima’s 3-goal cushion.
There was only one goal to separate Kakamega Homeboyz versus Bandari FC at the Bukhungu Stadium and this was a tap home by Christopher Masinza who had done himself some justice to be on the end of some brilliant work by David Okoth out wide on the left.
Another set of five goals was scored in the round when Ulinzi Stars paid a visit to the Muhoroni Stadium for a face-off with Chemelil Sugar FC. 4-1 it ended in favor of the military men who had Enosh Ochieng strike twice. Ochieng’s brace was the work of Ibrahim Shambi while John Kago- making it three, was because of the hosts’ complacency on the ball. Chemelil pulled one back after Felix Otuoma picked out David Simiyu in the closing stages but Ulinzi responded swiftly from the re-start, Ezekiel Okare making the most of a Boniface Onyango pass for 4-1.
The final match for us in the round- one that actually has a goal will be Wazito at home to Tusker FC. A 1-0 loss for the home side, Eric Ambunya was the beneficiary of a brilliant flick by George Odhiambo to power in the lone goal of the tie.
AFC Leopards at home to Kenya Commercial Bank birthed no goals.
After round 14, Kevin Kimani of Mathare United and Gor Mahia’s Kenneth Muguna stay firmly on top of the assists chart with 5 each. David Odhiambo Okoth (Homeboyz) joins Henry Onyango (Stima) at 4.
