Wazito raids AFC Leopards, KCB dens to sign trio

Wazito FC has once again put to the fore its ambition going into the second half of the season by confirming three new players on just the second day since the midseason transfer window swung open. The club has signed Dennis Sikhayi, Kennedy Owino and Dennis Nganga, all on free transfers.

Sikhayi joins from cash strapped AFC Leopards, while Owino and Nganga have signed after leaving KCB. Nganga and Owino’s moves signal a reunion of sorts, with the two having served at KCB under current Wazito FC coach, Frank Ouna last season.

Stronger team

In confirming the moves, Wazito FC Team Manager Bramwell Makotsi stated hope that the acquisitions will make the team stronger, having struggled for the better part of the first half of the season.

“We wanted players who could improve our weak areas. We had identified areas that we needed to beef up and we went for players who we believe will make us stronger. The three are quality players and we are happy to have them on board, they definitely make us stronger than we were before,” team manager Bramwell Makotsi says on the club’s official portal.

KPL experience

The three players join the team with sizeable knowledge and experience in the top flight. Apart from featuring as a regular for AFC Leopards, Sikhayi has also played for the now defunct Nakuru AllStars, and Western Stima. The right back, who can also slot in at the right win and left back positions, was also part of the Kenya national team, Harambee Stars that won the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge.

Owino, on the other hand, is a former Nakuru AllStars midfielder and has been a key player for KCB while Nganga, a former Kangemi AllStars man, has also featured for Nairobi City Stars as well as Tusker before joining KCB.
