Western Stima FC are on the lookout for fresher legs as they prepare for the second half of the 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season. Just after bringing in Festo Omukoto from Kakamega Homeboyz and SoNy Sugar duo of Stephen Onyango and Kevin Omundi, the Kisumu Powermen are rumored to be eyeing Farraj Odeny- currently turning out for Tusker FC.
A source from the club reveals that the technical bench has had their eyes on the 21-year-old and consider bringing him to Kisumu.
”The coaches are impressed by Farraj and I believe they are planning on summoning him from the capital,” says the source.
”He is a good midfielder and now that the team performed well in the first leg, he can help with the remaining part of the season so that the club makes a realistic chase for the KPL title,” hints the source.
Farraj, who still has one more year on his contract with the brewers, confirms that contact has been made but declined to talk more on the matter.
”Yes I have been approached but that is all. At the moment, I still have a contract with Tusker and if anything should happen, it will be between the two clubs,” he tells Soka.
The former Chemelil Sugar midfielder has turned out six times this season for Tusker, aiding them to four wins and two draws. The brewers, who currently sit just second to Gor Mahia on the KPL log, have had a tremendous season mainly anchored on incredible depth within the squad.
Coach Robert Matano, for example, has the luxury of picking from options that include Humphrey Mieno, Sempala Hashim, Apollo Otieno, Kelvin Okoth. Jackson Macharia, Peter Nzuki and Farraj himself for the midfield roles.
Stima, on the other hand, aims at boosting their middle of the park which has been mainly contested by Fidel Origa, Edwin Omondi, Abdallah Chamberi, James Ogada in the first leg. They are 5th on the log and have not lost in their last 6 league matches.
