Posta Rangers FC completed their double over Kisumu All Stars with a 2-0 win over the Kisumu side in a round 17 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played at the Moi Stadium from 3 pm.
Goals from Eliud Lokuwam and captain Mbugi Joseph ensured Coach Sammy Omollo’s men make it two wins in two after defeating AFC Leopards in the midweek.
John Oruko was a surprise start for All Stars upfront as he has been missing in action since aiding the team to promotion into the top flight. He would arrive late to a Stephen Otieno cross in the 6th minute that had breached the Rangers defense.
A cagey opening 30 minutes from both teams, chances were hard to come by with the hosts lining up a 4-4-2 formation while Rangers had a triple attacking threat in the way of Francis Nambute, Eliud Lokuwam and Ezekiel Okare.
Agai Billy would be withdrawn in the first half after picking a yellow card and his place taken by Muyela Dismas. In the 40th minute, Rangers took the lead.
Eliud Lokuwam arrived just in time to head against the crossbar a Gerson Likono cross. The first assistant adjudged it to have bounced over the goal-line and back into play. The goal was given and Rangers went to the break leading.
In the second half, Michael Owino came on for Oruko barely two minutes after the restart but it was Rangers who again fired home. Joseph Mbugi stepped up for a 50th-minute free-kick and duly dispatched it at the far-post.
Despite getting a late penalty kick in the game after a handball in the Rangers box, All Stars could not halve the deficit as John Owira had his penalty saved by Jairus Adira.
In Chemelil, Kenya Commercial Bank beat the sugar millers 3-0 with goals coming from Samuel Mwangi, Victor Omondi and Reagan Otieno.
