Gor Mahia FC were 4-0 winners over Chemelil Sugar FC in a catch-up Kenyan Premier League match played at the Moi Stadium from 4 pm on Wednesday 15th.
Samuel Onyango grabbed a brace in a match that also had Nicholas Kipkurui and Boniface Omondi grabbing one each.
Daniel Kiptoo would go down in the 4th minute after coming out top in a point-blank save from Samuel Onyango’s shot. Play resumed after he was attended to and he seemed to the unbreakable wall between the hosts’ goal posts with easy saves fas Gor Mahia piled more pressure on Chemelil.
In the 22nd minute, however, Samuel would get the opener, firing a low drive to Kiptoo’s far post and sending Gor Mahia 1-0 up.
Chemelil would have Leon Doso on the end of a long kick from Kiptoo a minute after conceding but his shot went agonizingly wide as the sugar millers sought to at least have an attempt on target before the break.
Samuel Onyango only needed three minutes of restart to get his brace and take Gor Mahia 2-0 up. In the 70th minute, Boniface Omondi stormed the fray, taking Bernard Ondiek’s place and making it 3-0 within a minute of entry.
Nichals Kipkurui had started up front in the game and wanted his name on the score-board too. The game seemingly open now, he was the beneficiary of a goalmouth melee and struck home for a 4-0 Gor Mahia lead in the 72nd minute.
Gor, despite getting numerous chances in the closing stages of the match, could not get the fifth. Dennis Oalo had replaced Miheso Clifton and soon found the back of the net. His header, however, would be called back for a foul on Mwangale Philip and the goal cancelled.
Gor won 4-0.
