Hall calls for referee to be banned after loss to Rangers

Wazito FC head coach Stewart Hall tore into the centre referee after his side succumbed 3-0 at the hands of Posta Rangers on Saturday in round 18 of the KPL.

The tactician blamed poor officiating for the loss as he believes Rangers’ second goal of the afternoon at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, scored via the penalty spot by captain Joseph Mbungi, should not have stood.

“I’ve got to say, that is the worst refereeing display I have seen in a long time,” the former AFC Leopards tactician said after the game, “How can anybody justify that penalty? That is an absolute joke!”

Absolute joke

“The first goal was a marginal freekick it could have gone either way but the penalty is an absolute joke. Even their bench can’t believe it and the fourth official is embarrassed by the decision. That is an absolute disgrace I am sorry to be talking about the referee but that is a horrific referee performance. The referee should be banned.”

Trailing 1-0 as early as the 4th minute after Togolese defender Issoufou Burhana had put into his own net, Wazito conceded the contentious penalty in the 58th minute after new Posta signing Ezekiel Okare had been impeded in the box by Johnstone Omurwa.

The goal inflated any hopes that Hall’s charges had of coming back in the game and they conceded a third goal right on the stroke of the 90 when another Posta new signing, Clinton Kisiavuki, struck from close range.

The defeat handed Wazito their sixth upset in succession, leaving Hall with only one win since he took over the side in November.

They remain in 14th place on the KPL log with 11 points, just three points above the drop zone.
