Benson Ochieng Omalla, a student at the Kisumu Day High School has made history as the youngest player to win a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) monthly award.
At only 17 years, the form four student has been declared the league’s best player for the month of December after scoring six goals within that month.
Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK), at the awards ceremony held during break time at Kisumu Day, awarded the Western Stima FC striker with a 49 inch LG television and a trophy to go with it.
In December, Omalla struck against Kenya Commercial Bank for his first goal of the season, a late winner that saw Stima bag maximum points. He would follow this up with a hat-trick against Zoo FC and later on, while on the road to Nzoia Sugar FC, he scored twice. Stima won both matches.
