Goals and Contributions: Neto guides Zoo in holding off Mathare United [Round 15 catch-up]

The Kenyan Premier League’s round 15 became complete on Wednesday 29th when the two pending matches were played in Kericho and Moi Stadium Kisumu. While Gor Mahia hosted Sofapaka in Kisumu, Zoo FC were on the lookout for an elusive win against Mathare United in Kericho.

A total of seven goals were scored by the four sides and we jointly look at the goals and contributions occasioned on the day.

In Kisumu, Lawrence Juma fired Gor Mahia into the lead with a free header having been accurately picked out by Boniface Omondi wide on the right flank. Sofa rallied to level the scores and doing duty for Batoto Ba Mungu was Jaden Nana, lucky to collect a rebound from an initial Kepha Aswani shot.

Tied at half time, and the defending champions looking to go top of the table, the captain, Kenneth Muguna– rose to connect to a Samuel Onyango cross for 2-1. It would end this way.

Kericho was a more fierce contest with hosts Zoo trying to get back to winning ways. This was however rudely checked by Dani Lual– scoring his first goal for Mathare United after connecting to a James Kinyanjui pass. Zoo responded through Wilson Anekeya’s direct free-kick for 1-1.

In the second half, Kinyanjui would himself grab one- sending the visitors up once more after being released by Tyson Otieno but Zoo were not to go down easily.

Collins Neto, primely placed for a Dennis Ongeri’s unsuccessful attempt at goal- collected the ball and powered in the equalizer for 2-2. No more goals would be scored.
