Less than a week after holding a Special General Meeting (SGM) to set in pace the process of the repeat elections, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Monday 3 February installed a reorganised Electoral Board with the mandate of running the polls.
In the even staged at the FKF offices at Kasarani, Nairobi, it was revealed that Kentice Tikolo will serve as the board’s chair, then lawyer Patrick Onyango will be the Secretary.
Journalist Ali Hassan Kauleni, former referee Alfred Ndinya, and communications consultant Samuel Karanja are the other members of the board.
The new board will oversee the National Elections and County Elections, and will also have a hand in the management and conduction of sub-county polls.
The board will operate on tight timelines, as it is required to have delivered credible polls by the end of March 2020, which forms a key concern in chairperson Tikolo’s scheduling of the process.
“We are taking this electoral process very seriously and will ensure that it is credible and transparent. Our first assignment is to put together the electoral calendar by February 7. The calendar will be based on FIFA’s requirement that we have elections by March 30, 2020,” she said.
According to the official FKF website, the board will have the official elections calendar, which will be published on the board’s website (www.eb.footballkenya.org) by February 7, 2020.
