Three Kenyan internationals have been included in Zesco United’s Zambian Super League (ZSL) midweek tie against Nakalamba Leopards to be played on Wednesday 5 January at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The three are custodian Ian Otieno, defender David Owino and striker Jesse Were. Otieno makes his debut for the eight time Zambian champions after joining in the just concluded mid-season transfer window from Red Arrows.
Zesco is home to four Kenyans with another mid-season signing John Makwatta not yet considered match ready for today’s clash after joining on deadline day from AFC Leopards.
Makwatta joined Zesco after a stellar six months with Leopards where he found the net a total of 13 times and returns to Zambia, a country he began his pro career, with Buildcon FC, when he left Kenya for the first time in 2016.
Otieno, a former AFC Leopards custodian, has been in Zambia since 2018.
Zesco, who have won the last ZSL titles, are currently in 5th place on the standings, four points adrift if top spot and with three matches in hand.
