A Patrick Otieno strike with 20 minutes to play at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos was all Kariobangi Sharks needed to beat KCB FC 1-0 in the first game of round 20 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
Otieno scored with a close range finish after the Bankers had failed to deal with an Eric Juma delivery from a corner.
Sharks were made to work for the win especially in the final stages after being reduced to 10-men following John Kuol’s sending off.
Back to back
The win has William Muluya’s side register their first back to back wins of the season after they had claimed the season’s biggest upset, winning 8-1 against Kisumu All Stars last weekend.
They however still remain in 12th place on the KPL log but move up to 19 points while KCB remain 4th with 38 points after seeing their four game win streak snapped.
The round will continue through to Sunday with six matches scheduled on Saturday and one on Sunday.
