Mathare United and Chemelil Sugar were victors in round 20 of the KPL on Saturday 8 February, beating Zoo FC and Posta Rangers respectively.
Chemelil won 2-1 at the Muhoroni Stadium while Mathare sealed a 3-1 upset at Kasarani.
Goals from Vincent Wanga and Paul Odanga in the 45th and 58th minutes secured the victory for the Millers with Rangers getting their consolation through Ken Mutembei with six minutes left on the clock.
The win which is Chemelil’s second of the season helps the team move to within three points of safety as they now lie in 16th place with nine points while Posta drop to 10th place with 29 points.
At Kasarani, Mathare United continued their dominance over Zoo FC thanks to goals from Kevin Kimani and James Kinyanjui. Kimani netted a brace with a goal either side of Kinyanjui’s header that had cancelled out Collins Neto’s equalizer via the spot.
The win now means that Mathare continue to remain unbeaten against Zoo in the league since the Kericho based side’s promotion back in 2017 and now move up to 9th place with 29 points. Zoo on their part lie in a precarious 14th place with 15 points, six points above the drop zone.
