City Stars lead slashed as Betika Super League heats up
The race for promotion is getting tight in the Betika Super League and not even Nairobi City Stars, who seemed to be coasting back to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), can now sit pretty without looking over their shoulder.
Bidco United, leading the chasing pack among the teams contesting for top spot and one of the two automatic slots to the top flight, on Sunday 9 February slashed City Stars’ lead by three points after a 2-1 win over Muranga Seal at the Thika Sub County Stadium.
Second loss
City Stars suffered only their second loss of the season on Saturday, falling 1-3 to Coast Stima at Camp Toyoyo, in Nairobi. Despite the fall, the Kawangware based side still commands a seven-point lead with 13 rounds still to be played.
Nairobi Stima’s 0-2 loss to Fortune Sacco saw them slip in the race but with a game in hand, they still have both legs in it though Vihiga United, who beat Modern Coast Rangers on Sunday have joined the top – four party as they are tied on 42 points with Nairobi Stima.
Ushuru FC and Coast Stima are also knocking on the top four door, tied on 39 points after the weekend matches.
