Contributions: Assist Providers for round 21 of the Kenyan Premier League

The assists board-though dominated by Gor Mahia skipper Kenneth Muguna in recent weeks, has started taking competitive shape at the top. This is partly due to one David Okoth’s consistency at Kakamega Homeboyz and partly due to Elli Asieche’s brace of provisions on Saturday against Gor.

Asieche, managing two assists, goes to 8 for the season and will stay behind Muguna who managed one on the day to go to 10 for the season.

We look at all the other contributions and how they affect the log.

Kariobangi Sharks center-back John Kuol was yet again on the assists board in a second successive week, setting up Patrick Otieno for Sharks’ lone goal against Kenya Commercial Bank.

On Saturday in Mombasa, Mwinyi Hamisi was the beneficiary of a well taken William Wadri cross to open the scoring proceedings against his former club Kakamega Homeboyz. Benjamin Oketch was to however cancel this out after finding himself on the end of an Ahmed Ali Bhai set play.

Another one-all draw was shared between Nzoia Sugar and Ulinzi Stars. First, Victor Likare fired home from a Felicien Okanda cross but Ulinzi rallied to tie the scores through Omar Borafya who was fortunate enough to be on the end of a rebound after a Masita Masuta header.

Augustine Otu will have left-back Dennis Ng’ang’a to thank for his inch-perfect cross that helped the Wazito import score the opener against Western Stima. Kevin Omundi, well released by Stephen Onyango, evened the scores for 1-1.

There was a winner in the tie, one scored late in the game by Musa Masika who- after being released by Victor Ndinya in the midfield, wandered all the way towards the Stima box to fire in for 2-1.

David Owino, plying his trade on Mathare United’ left flank of defense, set up Kevin Kimani for United’s opener against Zoo. A foul in the box on Dennis Ongeri meant Zoo would find the equalizer through Collins Neto from the spot. United regained control of the tie with James Kinyanjui making the most of a Tyson Otieno assist. Kimani would find his brace to bury the tie, this time- Kinyanjui setting him up.

Chemelil Sugar finally have a win, and it comes at the expense of Posta Rangers who took a 2-1 beating in Muhoroni.

Wanga Vincent, on the end of a Wycliffe Otieno pass, scored the opener and Paul Odanga- set up by Samuel Ndung’u made it 2-0.  The mailmen sought to put some respectability in the scores and found one through Ken Mutembei who was well placed for a Francis Nambute pass.

The final Saturday clash is Sofapaka’s 3-1 victory over Gor Mahia. It is here that Elli Asieche finds two assists- first, releasing Chinoso Uzoagba for the opener and later on delivering a corner kick that Uzoagba would head home for 2-1. In between, Kenneth Muguna had himself delivered a corner kick met by Samuel Onyango for Gor Mahia.

The final goal of the clash is Sebastine Sunday picking up a poor clearance to drive home for 3-1.

There was only one match played on Sunday, and only one goal scored. Timothy Otieno was the beneficiary of a Crispinus Onyango cross to drive home from close range as Tusker edged AFC Leopards 1-0.
