Gor Mahia stretched their lead at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log on Saturday 29 February by claiming all points available against Western Stima in a 3-2 win at the MISC Kasarani.
A blistering start to the matchday 22 encounter saw the defending league champions sail to a 3-0 lead inside the opening 12 minutes thanks to goals from Boniface Omondi (2), Kenneth Muguna (9) and Nicholas Kipkirui (12).
That was a good as it would get in terms of goals for Steven Pollack’s charges who were made to sweat for the three points despite the splendid start as Stima attempted a comeback through goals from Baron Oketch on the stroke of halftime and Benson Omalla with 10 minutes left on the clock.
Gor have now secured similar back to back 3-2 wins as last time out they won a five-goal thriller against Zoo FC. They now move up to 51 points, seven above second-placed Kakamega Homeboyz who take to the pitch on Sunday against Nzoia Sugar.
Stima on their part remain in 7th place with 33 points after seeing their winless run stretched to seven matches.
