Gor Mahia claimed all the spoils in the season’s second installment of the Mashemeji Derby after securing a slim 1-0 win over AFC Leopards on Sunday 8 March at the MISC, Kasarani.
Boniface Omondi scored the game’s only goal after 27 minutes to hand K’Ogalo the bragging rights over their perennial rivals as well as strengthen their hold on top spot.
The diminutive winger scored in a rather scrappy manner as he reacted quickest inside the penalty area to put the ball in the back of the net after the Leopards defence had failed to clear its lines after a corner.
The win, which hands Steven Polack’s men the season’s double over Leopards, restores Gor’s seven point lead atop of the KPL log as they now move to 54 points and on course to a fourth successive league triumph.
Ingwe on their part remain in 6th place with 40 points and continue to hunt for their first win in this fixture since 2016.
