The 16 local based players called up to the national Harambee Stars squad for the upcoming 2021 AFCON Qualifiers against Comoros hit camp on Monday 9 March and were taken through their paces by head coach Francis Kimanzi.
The players, all plucked from the KPL, assembled at the Kasarani Stadium for a two-day open training session that will conclude on Tuesday as Kimanzi looks to prepare his team before the back to back fixtures against Comoros on the 25th and 29th of March.
Speaking after the first session, Kimanzi sought to thank the local clubs for availing their players with the season still in play as well as confirming that the foreign based players are expected to hit camp in two weeks’ time.
“We thank the local clubs for releasing the players so as to enable early preparations ahead of the match against Comoros. We have 16 players in camp at the moment and we will be expecting foreign based players to join them in the next two weeks,” he said.
Stars, who currently sit second in Group G of the qualifiers behind Comoros after two matchdays, will host the first-leg fixture with the return-leg coming four days later.
