Nairobi City Stars midfielder Peter Opiyo has emerged as one of the best players so far in the 2020/21 BetKing Premier League (BKPL) season and his coach Sanjin Alagic has heaped praise on him after another fine performance against Ulinzi Stars.
Opiyo scored with a stunning free kick in the game, to hand City Stars the lead before Oscar Wamalwa’s equalizer for Ulinzi Stars. It was just one of the fine shows for the veteran in the season and his coach feels very privileged to have the player in his team.
A former Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Thika United player, Opiyo joined City Stars in the National Super League and was key in their promotion to the top flight after finishing top of the second tier. Sanjin lauded him as a true professional, noting that at his level, the midfielder can easily fit in most European leagues.
“Pinches is a very professional and high quality player. He is honestly a player who can fit in many leagues in Europe at the moment in his level. I have no doubt that as a coach I am very lucky and privileged to have that player in my team,” Sanjin said.
Reacting on the game against Ulinzi Stars, Sanjin admitted his side dropped points, looking at the scoring opportunities his players created.
Winless in five
The result against Ulinzi Stars left City Stars winless in five straight matches, having drawn four and the coach will be hoping for a better result when his team tours the Coast to take on Sofapaka at the Wundanyi Stadium in Taita.
City Stars are three points ahead of Sopfapaka in the league standings, with Sofapaka having suffered their fourth loss of the season in their last game, against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium.
