SEP Oyugis are set to play in the Women Premier League (WPL) for the first time ever in the 2020 season and Executive Director Festus Juma has declared readiness for the challenge ahead.
SEP Oyugis beat Zone A runners up MTG United 4-0 in the playoffs to clinch the final promotion slot to the top flight and according to Juma, his team approach the league with a strong mentality despite having been branded underdogs even before kickoff.
“We are coming on board as underdogs, we have never played in the premier league before but remember we have retained all our players from Division One meaning our energy is still concerted.
“With the team spirit we have and with the combined efforts as always, we believe we are up to the task and we will face each team with the courage this stage deserves,” he told Soka.
While it seems a tough task to accomplish, Juma says his team is going in to compete and not just participate. He says they are in the WPL to win it.
“We are entering the league with one aim – winning it. We are not here to try but show we know what we are doing,” he added.
“Concerning new signings, we just got approval from FIFA Connect on Monday and by end of the week I should be done with the process of transfers,” he concluded.
SEP Oyugis will open their campaign with a home game against Kibera Girls Soccer Academy on Saturday 22 February at the Kotieno Primary School at 1pm.
