International goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has quit Ethiopian side St.George’s after a three year stint.

Matasi confirmed on his facebook page on Friday that he had moved on from the club but did not say his next destination.

He said:” I would like to appreciate the Saint George fraternity for giving me the opportunity to work with and for them since 2018.

“After 41 matches and 22 clean sheets later, time has come for me to say goodbye to the club that I so loyally served. I leave Ethiopia with more experience, not just in the game but in life in general.

“Special thanks to all the fans and my teammates for the immense support and all the best in your future matches,” he said.

Matasi joined the club after a splendid performance in the local league. In 2019 he was outstanding in goal and helped Harambee Stars to make it to the Africa Cup of Nations finals after a 15 year absence.

Locally he played for Posta Rangers, West Sugar and Tusker. There are reports he could return to the brewers who have qualified to play in next season’s CAF Champions League where his experience will be greatly needed.
